"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10:13)
"Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
Introduction
All of God’s attributes demand, deserve, and should desire a response!
Definition of Faithfulness: Remaining consistently loyal and loving regardless of circumstance, cost, or challenge.
1 John 1:8-10 – The Faithfulness of God’s Forgiveness Demands the Response of Our Honesty
- “If…” is a conditional promise on our part.
- Be honest with yourself about your sin.
- Don’t:
- Compare
- Confuse
- Compromise
- But rather Confess – Proverbs 28:13
- See it like God does.
- Say it specifically to God.
- Simply believe God will forgive it.
- 1 Corinthians 10:11-14 – The Faithfulness of God’s Escape from Temptation Demands Our Humility
- Be humble enough to:
- Acknowledge there is no difference with you from others.
- Admit you can’t defeat sin on your own.
- Ask for your escape step – Psalm 34:6
- 1 Thessalonians 5:24 – The Faithfulness of God’s Calling Demands our Hope in the Lord
- Your hope in the Lord during a difficult time will produce:
- Security and protection – Isaiah 41:10
- Strength and power – Joshua 1:9
- Satisfaction and peace – Psalm 27:13-14
